Milwaukee Eliminates Brooklyn from NBA Playoffs

The Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks went to war in their game seven of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Despite not only a historic game for Kevin Durant but an incredible year for the team itself, they came short of just four points within sealing their victory. The final score was tallied at 115-111 after Durant sent the game into overtime with a deep two-pointer over P.J. Tucker.

Throughout the entirety of the game, there was not much of a point difference between these two teams. Last year, Giannas Antetokounmpo sprained his ankle and was not cleared to participate in Game 5 of the playoffs, resulting in the Miami Heat claiming victory and advancing into their postseason. Keeping that feeling raw, this year he refused to lose and gave us an impressive game by putting up a sum of 40 points, 5 assists, and 13 rebounds; not to mention playing an entire 50 minutes while shooting 15 of 24 from the floor.

Even though Giannas did have one of the best games we’ve seen all postseason there is no question that he could not have gotten the task done without his hardworking teammates, more specifically Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see much of these two until the second half of play would begin, most likely the reason for the Bucks trailing behind six points at the end of the first half.

Regardless of the loss, this was still a night to remember for Kevin Durant. For the second time within just three games, he has not sat for one minute of playtime, let alone giving himself a new personal achievement for points scored in a single game. In doing so, Durant joins the great Oscar Robinson and Jerry West in being ‘the only three players in NBA history to play every second in a game seven, while scoring over 40 points.’ Durant put up a monumental performance with a total of 48 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds. Unfortunately ending the Brooklyn Nets season he would end up air balling the game-winning shot with just 0.3 of a second remaining in OT, propelling the Milwaukee Bucks to take on the series winner of the Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
