Trailing along with the momentum from his last album release “Playboy” back in May of this year, Tory Lanez has returned with a new collaborative single, “SKAT” (feat. DaBaby). The single dropped on June 14, 2021, accompanied by the music video released to Tory Lanez Youtube channel. Going hand in hand with each other the visuals for this track aligns perfectly with the energy and vibe both artists bring onto the beat.

The song begins with a hard beat drop followed by a rhythmic trumpet sound. This would lead into Tory’s first verse in which he sheds light on how he does not need any females in his life as well as how much money he has recently been earning. Taking their time to transition through verses both artists brought their own unique flows and when compacted into one single, it creates a masterpiece. “SKAT” still stands tall as the number 1 trending song in the country five days after its release.

Now we all know the altercation that took place between Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez which resulted in Tory shooting Meg in the foot. Due to this, when Tory announced his collaboration with DaBaby back in January, he sustained an enormous sum of online hate from loyal Meg fans. Considering the close business relationship and friendship Meg and DaBaby hold together it is understandable why most of her fans are upset. However, at the end of the day, this is their occupation and they will do whatever it may be to stay on top.

Directed by Christian Breslauer, and arguably the best visuals we’ve seen for a single so far this year, the video for this track contains multiple scenes in different times and places of the world. Beginning with Torey driving a police car with a pig in the backseat, to him shooting cowboys in the wild west, all the way to ending with himself and Dababy as kids driving toy cars, you can only imagine the time and focus it took to bring all of this together. “SKAT” (feat. DaBaby) can now be listened to and enjoyed on all streaming platforms.
