Recently signed to Young Thugs label, Young Stoner Life, Unfoonk is here to make a statement with the release of his first mixtape entitled “My Struggle.” This cluster of songs was officially released to the public on behalf of YSL Records and Unfoonk himself. Including a total of just 12 tracks lasting only 32 minutes, this project also contains various features from other well-known YSL members such as Lil Keed and Gunna.
Embodying beat production from multiple producers such as 22cartel, Kisso, Cashdrug, Juvy, Southside808, and Kappa you can notice the difference in bounce when carefully listening to each track. Every song is provided with a hard beat drop followed by a sea of different instruments that all come together to soothe and prepare you for his profound lyrics.
Most people don’t know that Unfoonk is actually Young Thug’s biological brother but does not like to flaunt it due to the fact that he wants to create his own name for himself, which is respectable. In hopes of doing so, he included a pile of features from FN DaDealer, Future, G Herbo, Lil Duke, and needless to say Young Thug. While each individual single has its own distinct energy and rhythm, the entirety of the album is like one we haven’t seen in a while. Giving off a very urban vibe Unfoonk came with his own sound and flow techniques to add a little spice to his debut project. Successfully doing so the Atlanta-born rapper spoke about the family troubles he had coming up as a child along with the female troubles he is currently struggling with today.
Recently coming off of his verses on Young Thug’s “Slime Language 2” Unfoonk was able to grasp the concept of creating his own lane in the music industry. Probably why this first mixtape of his is so light on the ears and is projected to skyrocket within just the first week. You can listen to “My Struggle” on all streaming platforms today.
