U.S. Officials Arrest Goran Gogic For Trafficking $1 Billion Worth Of Cocaine

Former heavyweight boxer, Goran Gogic has just been charged with one of the largest cocaine busts in the history of the United States. According to U.S. officials, the 43-year-old ex-athlete from Montenegro, Balkans was recently convicted of trafficking approximately 22 tons ($1 billion worth) of cocaine from Colombia, Europe, and into North America. 

Gogic was placed in a local Miami jail this past Monday, October 31, 2022, after he was specifically labeled as a “sophisticated drug trafficker,” as stated by NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell. As a response to the handful of criminal accusations, the defendant’s attorney, Lawrence Hashish, claimed the following during their brief court appearance: “These charges came as a surprise to him. He maintains his innocence and has come to the United States for a boxing convention in Puerto Rico.” A follow-up trial is now set to take place this upcoming Monday, November 7.
