The Hollywood Walk of Fame is filled with so many icons from artists, to musicians, actors, you name it. Next up to receive his well-deserved star planted into the ground is none other than Los Angeles’ own Nipsey Hussle. It has been just about three years since the assassination of Nipsey and while being born and raised in the heart of California, it only seems right for his legacy to literally be cemented in his hometown.
The late rapper is just one out of 38 icons who will be inducted and appreciated at the historic scene in Los Angeles. However, he is only one-half of the two posthumous celebrities being awarded a star; the other is Carrie Fisher who passed away back in 2016 but played a major role in the classic films Star Wars. Some of the other people joining Nipsey in the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 2022 are Kenan Thompson, Martha Reeves, DJ Khalid, Regina King, Macaulay Culkin, The Black Eyed Peas, Micheal Strahan, and Salma Kayak just to name a few.
At just 33 years old Nipsey was shot and killed by one of his own crew members who he had been having doubts about and was slowly giving him the title of a ‘snitch.’ With this happening in March 2019 it wouldn’t take much time for this devastating event to create a ripple around the world, especially in California. Fans were going around their neighborhoods to paint murals of him in his honor. Of course, this can only be done while listening to his inspirational music that still influences the lives of adults and children every day.
As Nipsey receives his well-earned star this is only adding to the list of posthumous awards and acknowledgments being given to the late rapper. Along with some of his others such as the Humanitarian Award at the BET Awards in 2019, he was also gifted with two Grammys in 2020. If this shows us anything it is that his name will live on and be honored for longer than we can predict.
