Netflix Games is reportedly in discussions with Rockstar Games to create its own version of Grand Theft Auto. The streaming platform is exploring the possibility of licensing a Grand Theft Auto game from publisher Take-Two Interactive for its mobile gaming service. This potential spin-off would not be Grand Theft Auto VI, which is expected to be released between spring 2024 and spring 2025.

It’s worth noting that Netflix Games is currently available only on mobile devices, and this move follows Rockstar’s previous release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on iOS and Android in the early 2010s. In addition, Netflix Games is also considering licensing deals to add popular mobile games to its catalog.

“Our goal has always been to have a game for everyone, and we are working hard to meet members where they are with an accessible, smooth, and ubiquitous service,” Mike Verdu, VP of Netflix Games, said in a statement back in August. This development comes as Netflix aims to expand its presence in interactive entertainment, with the initial announcement made in August.
