A security engineer for the 2021 blockchain technology company, Yuga Labs, previously received an unexpected increase in his bank account after Google mistakenly sent him a large sum of money. $249,999.99 was instantly deposited into Nebraska-based Sam Curry’s bank account during the middle of August 2022, in which both parties confirm Curry immediately attempted to reach out to the corporation.

After allegedly three weeks without reciprocated communication from Google, Curry took matters into his own hands earlier this month by posting the following to his verified Twitter feed, along with a picture of the substantial deposit: “It’s been a little over three weeks since Google randomly sent me $249,999 and I still haven’t heard anything on the support ticket. Is there any way we can get in touch? … It’s OK if you don’t want it back,” he added.

Representatives from the globally used search engine openly spoke on the matter this past week – “Our team recently made a payment to the wrong party as a result of human error,” they exclusively told the non-profit organization, National Public Radio. “We appreciate that it was quickly communicated to us by the impacted partner, and we are working to correct it.” However, even with Google acknowledging and attempting to correct their faulty business move, the public managed to quickly discover that Curry not only practices security engineering at Yuga Labs but also paints himself to be a bug bounty hunter and a hacker, via his public social media accounts.
