People who grew up in movies where robots take over the world certainly are not going to like this. Multi-billionaire Elon Musk recently revealed the latest project he has been working on, in collaboration with Tesla, the first-ever humanoid tesla robot. Not quite finished with the project just yet, Elon appears to want an official prototype that is ready for evaluation and testing as soon as 2022. “If you think about what we are doing right now with cars, Tesla is arguably the world’s biggest robotics company, because cars are like semi-sentiment, robots on wheels,” Musk expressed during the unveiling.

“In the future, physical work will be a choice, he explained, “If you want to do it, you can, but you will not need to do it.” The main goal behind this project is to create a form of AI where the robot has the capability of completing manual labor tasks. Whereas something as simple for a human will be to tighten a nail with a screwdriver, this would be a complicated assignment for the robot and is something that Musk and his team are currently working on perfecting. He reportedly stated that the “Tesla Bot” has been designed to only perform assignments that are widely considered to be “repetitive, dangerous, and boring.”

The ‘Tesla Bot’ weighs a total of 125 pounds and stands at a height of five feet and eight inches. The bot also comes equipped with a screen that displays needed information about itself along with eight different cameras and an autopilot system for the times when you have to step away. Designed to easily be overpowered by almost any human, the ‘Tesla Bot’ can only reach a top speed of 5 mph, so if anything negative were to happen you can most likely just run away. There is no specific date as to when Elon will do a complete breakdown and show off his newest creation, but by the looks of things, we can expect the first prototype to be released to the eyes of the public sometime early next year.
