The 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards was recently hosted on Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. This night will go down in history for many celebrities who walked away with their very own prestigious award, such as Yung Bleu who unexpectedly came up with the victory for being this year’s BET’s ‘Best New Hip-Hop Artist.’ Other nominees included in this specific category consists of popular artists Morray, Pooh Shiesty, Blxst, Coi Leray, and Don Toliver.
“I ain’t even got no speech, I ain’t even know I was going to win,” the Alabama rapper stated during his acceptance speech. “I just want to shout out to my whole team, we did this from the start, independently. That’s why this means the most to me right now. Shout out to my whole team… Empire, shout out to Boosie, shout out to everybody… We are taking this home. Shout out to my hometown Alabama.” The 27-year-old artist was also nominated for ‘Hustler of the Year’ along with other well-known rappers such as Cardi b, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Saweetie, and even Drake; Saweetie walked away victorious.
Yung Bleu previously entered the music scene back in October 2020 when he managed to get a highly popular Drake feature on his hit single “You’re Mine Still” (feat. Drake). This release quickly propelled Bleu to the top of most streaming charts while paving a clear and steady career path for the young rapper’s inevitable future in the industry. He is currently coming off the release of his latest and only 2021 album, “Moon Boy,” which withholds 13 features from various highly respected musicians. Some of the featured verses are performed by A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Kehlani, MoneyBagg Yo, Kodak Black, Big Sean, Drake, Davido, and even John Legend made an appearance on the first track “Die Under The Moon.”
