Back in September 2020, well-known rapper and influencer YoungBoy Never Broke Again was one of 16 individuals who were arrested and accused of possessing illegal firearms. Police officials initially received their evidence from one of the artists’ video shoots in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the birthplace of NBA YoungBoy, before isolating the young rapper behind bars for seven months and then sending him home on house arrest until his trial date.
“He is charged with possessing a gun as a convicted felon, and he possessed another gun as he fled from law enforcement at the time of his arrest,” an official court file recorded. “When his gun possession is combined with his violent crime, attempts to flee from law enforcement, which included a high-speed chase in and around a neighborhood that included a middle school, and his pervasive marijuana use, Kentrell Gaulden [YoungBoy’s government name] clearly and convincingly present a danger to the community.”
Originally set to take place on May 16, 2022, before being pushed back to this past Wednesday, July 11, YoungBoy’s trial could not have gone anymore in his favor. With the possibility of facing a maximum of seven years in federal prison, the 22-year-old artist walked into the courtroom full of poise and happily walked out a free man, ready to commence a fresh start.
Documents from this specific case reportedly claim that there were no traces of any fingerprints or any type of DNA related to YoungBoy on the gun that was confiscated from the backseat of his Maybach. James Manasseh, selected attorney for the popular Right Foot Creep rapper, also made a substantial point in the artist’s defense case by providing evidence that the officers who made the arrest had ‘obtained evidence without a proper search warrant.’ Sources close to NBA YoungBoy claimed that he “put his head down and started to cry when the verdict was read,” showing the world how much his freedom truly means to him.
