This past week, the current President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the public declaration that he will be commencing “military operations” in Ukraine during the next upcoming days. On Wednesday night, it was officially reported that Putin instructed his Russian troops to not hold back while steadily moving throughout the Eastern European country. Witnesses all throughout the land have reported hearing and seeing various explosions on top of claiming that the country is no longer a safe place to be in. At least 127 civilian deaths have occurred since the first attack on Ukraine this past Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

Current President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky recently let his country know that he will refuse to go down without a fight and will not leave his people behind. “We won’t give up its freedom,” Zelensky tweeted in regards to his land. “Russia has embarked on a path of evil, but Ukraine is defending itself.” Putin made his intentions more transparent in a public statement he made before his military’s invasion. “I have taken the decision to carry out a special military operation,” he announced:

“Its goal will be to defend people who for eight years are suffering persecution and genocide by the Kyiv regime. For this, we will aim for demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as taking to court those who carried out multiple bloody crimes against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation. Our plans do not include occupying Ukrainian territory.” As Putin explains that his plans do not withhold stealing any property from the Ukrainian people, he does specify that he basically intends to take over their military instead. Ukraine has already lost its Chernobyl nuclear site to the Russian troops within just three days since their initial attack, not a good sign in the eyes of a Ukrainian citizen.
