Over the past couple of weeks, the internet has been blessed with the comedic relief of a new trending challenge called ‘the milk crate’ challenge. The event consists of the stacking of multiple milk crates in which the competitor will attempt to walk up and stand on the top of the tower. They will then aim to walk down the single-lined stacked tower and complete the challenge without falling or knocking over a stack.
This challenge happens to be a great example of how not to judge a book by its cover. While looking and seeming easy there have only been a handful of videos where the person attempting to complete this task comes out with a victory. The majority of videos include people calling from the peak of the tower while breaking crates with their back as they land on the hard ground. Due to all of the gruesome videos of people landing in very awkward positions after making an effort to finish the milk crate challenge, TikTok has officially made the decision to ban all videos in any relation to the challenge from its platform for safety correlated reasons. Originating from the video library platform, it only seems right for them to be the first social media giant to make an attempt at putting an end to this trend that is clearly injuring innocent people.
It is now set that if you go to the search bar on the TikTok application and begin to search for the ‘milk crate challenge,’ there will be absolutely no results that will pop up in order to attempt at stopping the dangerous trend. The platform released a statement on behalf of their recent banning that stated, “TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content. We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
