Police have begun an investigation regarding an altercation involving former NBA player Matt Barnes. Per TMZ, the incident happened Sunday outside Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, following the ending of the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers game. A video surfaced on social media capturing Barnes getting into it with David Patterson Jr.—the ex-husband of Barnes’ current fiancée, Anansa Sims. The video shows Barnes spitting on Patterson before they get into a scuffle. Bystanders managed to break the two up before the altercation escalated further.
The former basketball player was successful in securing a restraining order against his fiancée’s ex-husband, David Patterson Jr. The court order went into effect Wednesday, days after the physical altercation. Barnes claimed Patterson was “jealous” of his relationship, and has spent the past year threatening and harassing him. As part of the restraining order, Patterson is prohibited from possessing firearms and must stay a minimum 100 yards away from Barnes.
