The official nominations for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards have just been released. Taking place on August 28, this year’s specific event will occur at the Prudential Center in the heart of Newark, New Jersey. Last year, Lil Nas X’s MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) pulled through with the well-deserved victory, totaling over 46.9 million streams on the young artist’s Youtube channel – Nas X was also granted the VMA for Best Visual Effects, Best Direction, and Song Of The Year back in 2019.
Revealed to the public this past week, various memorable videos from multiple well-known artists are in the running to take home this year’s Video Of The Year Award: Drake’s Way 2 Sexy (feat. Future & Young Thug), Doja Cat’s Woman, Lil Nas X’s Industry Baby (with Jack Harlow), Olivia Rodrigo’s Brutal, Harry Styles’ As It Was, Ed Sheeran’s Shivers, and Taylor Swift’s All Too Well. As some fans have yet to cast their vote towards their favorite visuals, MTV has made it clear that “voting is open,” according to the official website, and is continuing to encourage viewers to give their opinions on who they think deserves to win.
