The popular social media pillar Twitter was first brought to the eyes and ears of the public back in March 2006 on behalf of its initial co-founders Noah Glass, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Jack Dorsey. Since then these four entrepreneurs have been continuously advancing their platform, rightfully keeping themselves up to date with all of the new technological advancements placed on social media. However, this past Monday, November 29, 2021, Jack Dorsey recently sent a mass email to his entire team that announced his official resignation as the CEO of Twitter. “After almost 16 years of having a role at our company… from co-founder to CEO to Chair to Exec Chair to interim-CEO to CEO… I decided it’s finally time for me to leave,” Dorsey commenced the email. The 45-year-old philanthropist went on to elaborate on the true reasoning behind his surprising decision throughout the rest of his message:
“The first is Parag becoming our CEO. The board ran a rigorous process considering all options and unanimously appointed Parag. He’s been my choice for some time given how deeply he understands the company and its needs. He leads with heart and soul and is someone who I learn from daily. My trust in him as our CEO is bone-deep,” Dorsey stated.
“The second is Bret Taylor agreeing to become our board chair. He understands entrepreneurship, taking risks, companies at massive scale, technology, product, and he’s an engineer. Having Bret in this leadership role gives me a lot of confidence in the strength of our board going forward… The third is all of you. All of you have the potential to change the course of this company for the better. I believe this with all my heart!” he passionately emphasized.
Dorsey would later publicly share the message to his team through his own Twitter account, officially announcing to the world about the slight transitions taking place behind the scenes of his business. The St. Louis, Missouri businessman was notably unspecific about his future endeavors but did claim to plan on continuing the push of his financial service company Square, Inc.. He also mentioned that he will continue to institute his services over at Twitter until all of the newly appointed representatives feel fully comfortable with their transition.
