Heading into a very stressful Game 6 of what could be the last match of the Eastern Conference Finals, Milwaukee is ahead with a confident 3-2 series lead. Even without their star athlete, Giannas Antetokounmpo, the team has rightly put the pressure on themselves to finish the path that their leader has paved for them. Giannas went down with a hyperextension injury sustained to his left knee back in Game 4 against the Atlanta Hawks which can only be assumed as the reasoning for the Hawk’s surprising victory.
However, the Bucks dominated the Hawks in what was brutal to watch Game 5 which resulted in a 123-122 loss along with a 3-2 series deficit for the young team. With both teams suffering from their star players enduring game-affecting injuries it is going to be very suspenseful until Game 6, where we will find out if the playing grounds will still be ‘even.’ As of right now, Trae Young has been publicly cleared by officials to take action in Game 6 which will possibly give Atlanta the push that they desperately need to get back in the running for their championship opportunity.
Giannas on the other hand is a completely different story. Trae Young rolled his ankle on a referee’s foot whereas Giannas suffered from a hard fall to the ground, bending his knee the opposite way of how it is supposed to. The Milwaukee star has yet to give a status on his stance for Game 6 but we can only assume that he will not be on the roster and again supporting from the side. If by some miracle Giannas is cleared by his doctors and able to play, I think it would be safe to say that Atlanta’s postseason has officially come to an end and Game 6 will be the last match in the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals. Game 6 will take place on July 2nd and can be watched live on NBA TV.
