Brampton, Canada-born rapper Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, more commonly known by his alias Tory Lanez, has been found constitutionally guilty on all three of his illegal felony charges – carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and assault with a semi-automatic firearm – in his current lengthy trial against his fellow rapper, Megan Thee Stallion.

The unanimous jury verdict was officially announced to the public on Friday, December 23, 2022, resulting in the popular Talk To Me (feat. Rich The Kid) artist potentially facing over 22 years in prison; his full formal punishment is claimed to be provided during a sentencing that is set to take place on Friday, January 27, 2023, as revealed by both parties’ legal teams.

Throughout the entirety of the nine-day trial, Tory did not take the stand or publicly speak even one time during his defense, whereas the plaintiff had a lot to say. “I started walking away and I heard Tory yell, ‘Dance, b***h,” Megan emotionally stated on the stand. It was declared that Megan “showed incredible courage and vulnerability despite repeated and grotesque attacks,” according to her attorney, LA County DA George Gascón.

Gascón went on to speak on how major this case was for the legal justice community in a lengthy statement following the trial’s conclusion: “You faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the nation,” he stated pertinently to Megan’s recent win.

“Women, especially Black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault and sexual violence because they are too often not believed. This trial, for the second time this month, [referring to Harvey Weinstein’s recent guilty verdict on three out of his seven disturbing charges] highlighted the numerous ways that our society must do better for women.”
