As most people already know, popular Talk To Me (feat. Rich the Kid) artist Tory Lanez was recently found guilty on three individual felony charges – carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and assault with a semi-automatic firearm – during the conclusion of his trial against fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Most recently, the young artist went on to employ Suge Knight’s, music executive and convicted felon, former attorney David Kenner – Kenner was the main voice in the defense counsel for the first Federal drug kingpin case in the United States. This specific information was brought to light on Sunday, January 8, 2023, through a series of posts uploaded to South Carolina reporter Meghann Cuniff’s verified Twitter account:
“Regarding Tory Lanez’s Tuesday court date, yes, there is a date listed on the jail roster. It’s not on Judge Herriford’s calendar, and he’s got a bunch of other stuff at the time,” she stated. “Attorney David Kenner confirmed to me last week he’s now representing Tory… Kenner is a longtime criminal defense attorney whose clients include former Death Row Records CEO, Suge Knight. Anyone with actual experience in criminal law (not all lawyers) will tell you he’s joining the case a bit late: Before the trial would have been better.”
With the jury unanimously voting against Tory, the Brampton, Canada-born singer is now facing an impending sentencing that could result in over 22 years behind bars. His sentencing is currently set to take place on Friday, January 27, 2023, and, with his new attorney, in hopes to work out some sort of deal in order to decrease his prison time.
