The Minnesota Timberwolves officially advanced through this year’s NBA Play-in Tournament by overcoming an intense game against the Los Angeles Clippers this past Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Occurring at the Target Center in the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Timberwolves managed to eliminate their opponents from the 2021-2022 postseason with a well-deserved 109-104 victory at the conclusion of the fourth quarter. This specific match was a transparent team effort and incredible performance put on by the entire winning squad, however, young Minnesota star Anthony Edwards seemed to have aided the most in his team’s success.
Over 37 minutes on the floor, Edwards managed to put up the most points on the floor (30) along with a total of just 5 rebounds and 2 assists. D’Angelo Russell saw the same amount of action as his teammate this past Tuesday night, while also aiding in his squad’s win with his much-needed 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Both Edwards and Russell did right by their franchise by picking up the slack from their usual star center, Karl Anthony-Towns, who only scored a total of 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
With this win, Minnesota will now go head-to-head against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Their first interaction is currently set to take place this upcoming Saturday, April 16, in which both teams will try to claim their place in this year’s NBA Finals. Last year’s champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, placed as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference at the end of the regular season and now face Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls during the first round of the playoffs.
