TikTok has recently become the latest social media platform to join the E-commerce community with the launch of their very own in-app shopping feature. They join other platforms such as Instagram and Google that give the option of being able to purchase different genres of items to any of their users. More specifically, this move allows app users to be able to purchase individual or grouped products straight from their selected shopkeeper, directly off of the TikTok platform. The video streaming application has formed a team collaboration with Shopify in order to ensure the long-term success of this addition.
The Canadian-based platform’s decision to partner with TikTok is allowing all businesses involved with the application to now have the choice of adding a small shopping tag on their profile page, where customers can have easy access to all of your products and supplies. This will undoubtedly create a huge boost in not only users for the platform, but also sprout a handful of help towards small businesses trying to get a jump start in the right direction. Another added feature includes the buyer being able to tag the merchant and directly link their viewers to the place of purchase for their specific product.
First made available for in-app use on Sunday, September 5, 2021, millions of users took advantage of the newest addition to the promotional platform, including reality star and self-made makeup fashionista Kylie Jenner. “I built my business on social media,” she said on behalf of being one of the first to try out the new feature. “It’s where my fans go first to look at what’s new from Kylie Cosmetics,” the multi-billionaire stated. She is now supplying easy access to all of her products through TikTok where all of her 35 million followers can now be aware and take advantage of the newest in-app update for themselves.
