According to data from Sensor Tower and Similarweb, Meta’s new platform and Twitter competitor, Threads, has experienced a decline in usage among its subscribers. Although Threads initially garnered significant attention and achieved a record-breaking 100 million signups within five days of its launch, it appears that user interest in the app has waned. CNBC reports that on Tuesday and Wednesday, Threads saw a 20% decrease in its number of daily active users compared to Saturday. Additionally, the amount of time users spent on the app declined by 50%, dropping from an average of 20 minutes to 10 minutes. These statistics indicate a decline in user engagement and suggest that the initial excitement surrounding Threads has diminished
Other companies that track user traffic like Similarweb have also indicated an abrupt downward trend in the usage of Threads. The app experienced a 25% decrease in its number of daily active users between its peak on July 7 and subsequent dates. Similarweb’s data also suggests that usage time on the app significantly declined by more than half. Specifically, the average time spent by users in the United States on Threads decreased from approximately 20 minutes on July 6 to only around 8 minutes on July 10. These analytics further confirm the decline in user engagement and usage of the app.
