Texas Governor Bans TikTok On All State Issued Devices

Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently made the public declaration that is removing the ability to download and completely terminating traces of the video-sharing social networking application, TikTok, from all state-issued devices. Abbott officially announced the information to the public this Friday, December 9, 2022, through a short post uploaded to his verified Twitter account: 

I have banned TikTok on state-issued devices. I am also calling for legislation to make the ban permanent and to broaden the ban. As I detail in my letter and press release, the threat posed by the CCP through TikTok is serious and must be stopped — Today, I have directed agencies to take immediate action to protect sensitive information and critical infrastructure from TikTok… When the 88th Texas Legislature convenes next year, the Executive Branch will stand ready to assist in the codification and implementation of any cybersecurity reforms that may be deemed necessary.
