Serialized in Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014, “Naruto” has enjoyed immense popularity, selling over 250 million copies of the manga across 60 countries and territories. The franchise has expanded into various successful ventures, including an anime series that aired on networks such as Cartoon Network, Disney XD, and Adult Swim, as well as a widely acclaimed video game series. Although a release date hasn’t been set, the film will without a doubt make noise at the box office.

In a live interview, Iger explained the decision is meant to address a “diluted focus and attention” among viewers and decision-makers for both franchises and will ultimately cut costs. “You pull back not just to focus, but also as part of our cost containment initiative. Spending less on what we make, and making less,” the 72-year-old said.

Marvel properties are just not experiencing the same level of box office success as during the “Infinity Saga” era. The Infinity Saga, which spanned from 2008 to 2019, consisted of 23 film releases, culminating in the highly successful Avengers: Endgame, which earned $2.799 billion worldwide and followed by Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, recent Marvel releases have not achieved similar box office results, prompting the adjustment in Disney’s content production strategy.

The current challenges faced by Marvel can be attributed to a combination of oversaturation and superhero fatigue. Disney responded to what was presumed to be a high demand for Marvel content by releasing numerous projects. In 2021 alone, Disney released four Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, namely Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Additionally, they produced five series exclusively for the Disney+ streaming service, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, and Hawkeye. The substantial quantity of releases within a short timeframe may have contributed to audience exhaustion and a decreased overall reception.

The controversies surrounding The Flash were also a factor in its underperformance. Lead star Ezra Miller has faced legal issues, including accusations of physical abuse, disorderly conduct, harassment, and burglary between 2020 and 2022.

In April 2022, Ezra Miller acknowledged that they were seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues.” In a statement provided to People Magazine, Miller addressed the controversies surrounding them.

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

“I grew up a Superman [fan], and DC! But when I saw my first Black Adam comic, he was badass, he was cool,” Johnson told Complex at the film’s New York City premiere last week. “He had brown skin, so I identified with him. And I thought, ‘I want to be that guy!’ So that’s why I’ve been pushing for this movie for so long, for so many years.” 

Rotten Tomatoes wrote the following caption via Twitter: “A new #Superman movie with Henry Cavill is in the works at Warner Bros. Discovery… The project that would essentially be ‘Man of Steel 2’ is being produced by Charles Roven and is currently in a search for writers.” Other upcoming showings in the DC world include Black Adam, coming to all theaters this Friday, October 20, which will be Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s first role as a big-screen superhero – rumors claim that Henry Cavill will also make a featured appearance as Superman in the new Black Adam film.
