This past Tuesday, December 28, 2021, the Denver Nuggets upset the Golden State Warriors in an intense battle at the Chase Center in Los Angeles, California. The Warriors were handed a close 89-86 point loss but still managed to create a historical game for themselves. Star point guard Steph Curry put himself on the board for a total of 23 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds over the course of a hard-fought 39 minutes of action. The 33-year-old all-star also broke yet another NBA record by officially hitting a total of 3,000 3-pointers throughout his entire professional basketball career; the only other player to come close to this milestone is Hall of Famer Ray Allen.
“I don’t think there’s anybody in sight now that can break his record,” future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki publicly stated. “He changed the game. He makes it look easy. He’s the best shooter I’ve ever seen, and I think it’s clear he is the best catch-and-shoot player, but where he’s so good is off the dribble, and I think that’s something he added- the quick 3 off the dribble,” he announced in regards to Steph’s one-of-a-kind shooting techniques.
With Golden State’s star shooting guard Klay Thompson sitting out for the majority of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee, it gave Curry the perfect opportunity to put his team on his back for the season and once again create history. Prior to his accomplishment, the Ohio-born athlete had made a total of “at least one three-pointer throughout 157 consecutive games to match his own NBA streak,” according to NBA representatives. However, as Steph continues to push himself ahead of the competition, it is safe to say that he has officially solidified himself as the greatest three-point shooter to ever play in a professional basketball game.
