Popular Netflix series Squid Game director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has made an official statement on the future of the widely-enjoyed program. Announced this past Monday, April 4, 2022, the South Korean writer vocalized how he hopes to release season two before the conclusion of 2024. As part of this declaration, Dong-hyuk also went on to admit how he has not even begun writing any of the scripts for the highly-anticipated second coming of his widely-known show: “There will be more great games, that’s all I can say. I’m just brainstorming and collecting the ideas for Season2, I haven’t even started the writing yet,” he stated.

Squid Game was initially released back in September 2021 and within the first of its publication swiftly jumped to the No. 1 most popular streaming movie on Netflix’s platform. In relation to the upcoming season 2, Dong-hyuk previously elaborated more on the subject in a prior public statement he had made to his audience:

“While I was writing season one, I thought about the stories that could be in season two if I get to do one – one would be the story of the Frontman. I think the issue with the police officers is not just an issue in Korea. I see it on the global news that the police force can be very late in acting on things – there are more victims or a situation gets worse because of them not acting fast enough… This was an issue that I wanted to raise and maybe in season two I can talk about this more.”
