In 2019 Seth Rogen began his own personal marijuana brand, Houseplant, which was initially based in Canada, but as of recently made its way over to the United States. With the status of cannabis being so controversial and complicated right now “Hollywood’s favorite comic stoner” decided to give a thorough explanation of how he feels about cannabis legalization and the way his company operates. His main goal with Houseplant is to ‘sell some of the best stuff out there and when asked if his company sells more pottery or cannabis, “Weed is better, for sure,” the actor and entrepreneur quickly responded with.

The highly admired movie star’s main problem with cannabis in today’s world is all of the bad notions behind the use of the drug. Older generations along with some people today believe that marihuana decreases focus, productivity, and overall motivation to act ‘accordingly’ and for some people, this may be the case. However, when Seth Rogen takes a break to smoke a pinch of cannabis he says he becomes more focused and relaxed from his previous worries. “I don’t make any illusions on how weed fits into my life…I’m a person who smokes weed all day every day,” Rogen explained to his audience. “It really bothers me that people downplay its importance and downplay how meaningful it is to some people’s lives.”

With Houseplant, Rogen has shown that he himself is beginning to take the legalization of cannabis even more seriously than he has in the past. His intentions are to satisfy his customers and make them feel comfortable when purchasing from his self-made company. He also finds it very important that citizens are educated before speaking badly on the use or selling of marijuana. The 39-year-old businessman passionately exclaimed, “It’s important because the entire reason it’s illegal is based on racism and we’re all living with the lies of racist men from 100 years ago. Truthfully, there is no reason that weed is illegal other than to control minority populations.”
