Professional Russian tennis player, Andrey Rublev, recently left a message for the people of his country this past Friday, February 25, 2022, after his necessary match win. The 24-year-old athlete advanced himself to the finals at the Dubai Championships this past Friday and took the opportunity to celebrate in a unique way. The Russian-born tennis star wrote the statement, “No war please,” on the lens of a camera that was rolling on live television at the time: The statement was towards the current situation taking place in the Ukraine that has led to the loss of hundreds, if not thousands of innocent lives.

Speaking for almost everyone around the world, Rublev made a clear statement with his recent acts after his wholesome victory. He previously spoke about “how important it is to have peace in the world and to respect each other no matter what, to be united,” he stated. “We should take care of our Earth and of each other. This is the most important thing.”

Director Ted Geoghegan also took the time to speak on this specific situation when he stated, “By making this statement, which many Westerners will blow off as a passing sentiment, this brave young man could have just signed his death certificate. We should all be doing what we can to keep Rublev and other Russians who speak up safe from their government.” Russia and Ukraine currently plan to meet in an attempt to create peace throughout both of their respective countries. Hopefully, the two forces can come to an agreement that appeases both parties and finally put an end to the current violence that is unnecessarily taking place.
