Rod Wave dropped his fifth studio album, “Nostalgia,” on Friday, September 15th. This album features 18 tracks, including collaborations with 21 Savage and TikTok sensation Sadie Jean. Leading up to the album’s release, Rod Wave released several singles, including “Fight the Feeling,” “Call Your Friends,” “Come See Me,” and “Boyz Don’t Cry.”
To coincide with the release of “Nostalgia,” fans were treated to a music video for the song “Checkmate.” This track, produced by BeatsByTrain, camm, and FRAXILLE, explores themes of heartbreak and expresses gratitude to loved ones for their support in Rod Wave’s journey to success. Rod Wave’s “Nostalgia” is poised to become his third consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. It’s expected to achieve between 130,000 to 140,000 album-equivalent units sold, which would displace Olivia Rodrigo’s “GUTS” from the top spot. Additionally, this projection would position “Nostalgia” as the third-largest rap debut of 2023, trailing behind Travis Scott’s “UTOPIA” and Lil Uzi Vert’s “Pink Tape.”
With this anticipated success, Rod Wave continues to solidify his position in the rap and music industry. His music resonates with fans, making him a prominent figure in contemporary rap.
