Canada-born rapper Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, more commonly known as Tory Lanez, has just been released from a recently implemented house arrest punishment. The popular 30-year-old singer was previously put on house arrest back in early October of this year, stemming from his public July 2020 incident resulting in Hot Girl Summer rapper Megan Thee Stallion accusing him of shooting her in the foot with an unspecified firearm.
Announced to the public this past Monday, December 5, 2022, Judge David Herriford of the Los Angeles County Superior Court officially discontinued the young artist’s house arrest in order to make him “accessible for trial,” as stated in specific documentation from this case — “If he is required to have a monitor on his ankle in from of jurors, I think it [house arrest] is just punitive. It does not serve a purpose… If he is going to dissuade a witness, all probation is going to know is where he is. It does not mean he cannot meet with that person.” Herriford also ruled Torey’s $350,000 case bond will remain standing as all members of the lawsuit await their upcoming trial on a postponed date of Monday, December 12, 2022.
