Brampton, Canada-born rapper Torey Lanez recently called out almost everyone in the music industry by claiming that all of the music released in 2022 has been “mid.” The 30-year-old artist has released a total of eight singles himself throughout the year, but according to Torey, he does not include himself in this specific category. Torey posted the bold statement to his Twitter account this past Monday, August 8:
“For the first time in a long time …… everything in music is MID right now, like I truly have not heard a project that has moved me in the last 8-9 months… 2022 what the f**k is going on with you my boy.”
The Color Violet rapper then followed up with two more tweets to give a better explanation of his initial thought. “Like don’t get it twisted, we are getting off by what is out now and you might have some heaters on every album here and there but … I kinda miss that Kush and OJ, So Far Gone mixtape era when the body of work was more important than a f*****g hot song — The albums of 2022 I did like tho were Kendrick’s, Breezy, Durk, NBA, and a few more that I probably can’t remember. But I can’t really think of a 2022 version of like a REASONABLE DOUBT or THE CHRONIC or COLLEGE DROPOUT.”
