The Tampa Bay Buccaneers previously started out their 2021 NFL season strong by coming back and defeating the Dallas Cowboys in a nail-biting fourth quarter. Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady, continued to impress throughout the game, along with making a huge statement to the league that he has returned for another Super Bowl championship; they also defeated the Atlanta Falcons in a 48-25 victory, placing themselves on a confident path with a 2-0 win streak. However, this short-run would quickly be put to rest after Tampa Bay received their first brutal loss of the season from the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday, September 26, 2021.
With this victory, Los Angeles officially propelled themselves to a 3-0 undefeated win streak as they took a 34-24 victory at home in the SoFi Stadium. The Rams held a steady 7-point lead at the end of the first half of regulation, before rapidly turning up the heat throughout the entirety of the third quarter. One of the most noticeably impressive plays of the game was made by former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, DeSean Jackson, who stepped up early in the third quarter to score his first touchdown as a Los Angeles Ram. Quarterback, Matthew Stafford, threw an incredible 75-yard pass on third down that landed perfectly into the hands of Jackson, giving the Rams a solid 20-7 lead.
Both teams presently withhold two of the top five offensive line-ups in the league and this matchup was a perfect example as to why they hold that specific stature. The Buccaneers will now head to Foxboro, Massachusetts where Tom Brady will take on his former team, the New England Patriots, with his newly acquired 2-1 record. The game will be held at Gillette Stadium next Sunday, October 4, as Brady and his team look to put a quick end to their minor slump. Both teams will enter this competition with the same seasonal record.
