On July 7, 2021, the 42nd president of Haiti was horribly assassinated in what he thought was the comfort of his home. Jovenel Moïse ruled over the country of Haiti since he was officially chosen in the 2016 election in which his stance as president would later take place in early 2017. Sadly, President Moïse was only able to serve four years out of his five-year term, which is interesting due to the fact that some of his adversaries publicly disputed how his time in office should have been terminated on February 7th of this year; officials have yet to find any specific evidence relating these people to this unfortunate murder.

Presented with the title of ‘acting president’ shortly after the death of Jovenel Moïse, Claude Joseph released a short statement on behalf of the tragic events describing it as “hateful, inhuman, and barbaric.” With Claude being the former prime minister of Hatia it seemed only right for him to take over for the time being as well as delivering this devastating news to the world. It was reported that the intruders undetectably entered the former president’s private residence which resulted in the First Lady of Haiti, Martine Moïse, suffering from serious physical injuries along with the tragic passing of her husband.

There was said to be a small group of six armed men, still yet to be publicly identified, who somehow managed to surpass all security systems and make it to their target. Disappointingly, their security and law enforcement officials were unable to make it in time to save the life of their president but did however prevent these vicious human beings from harming anyone else in the office. According to the Haiti police, three law enforcement officers were held hostage as they got into a serious gun battle with the alleged murderers, but were luckily released after officials were forced to take four out of the six suspected criminals; the two remaining thugs were shortly arrested afterward.
