The Phoenix Suns recently hosted the Portland Trail Blazers in a one-sided matchup that concluded in a 120-90 victory for the home team. Taking place at the Footprint Center in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, the Suns officially propelled themselves to gain a newly improved 50-12 record for the 2021-2022 NBA season; they are currently the No. 1 seed in this year’s Western Conference above the Golden State Warriors.
With their star point guard, Devin Booker, being left out of the game due to an apparent knee injury, this victory was transparently a team effort as the points were divided among each of Phoenix’s athletes. Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder managed to combine for a total of 30 points as they each saw 26 minutes of action. Cameron Johnson put up the most points on the court this past Wednesday night consisting of 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, over the span of just 24 minutes of floor time. The Suns have still yet to bring home a championship back to their city, however, this year appears to be one of their closest opportunities.
Portland lacked on both ends of the court throughout the entirety of the night. They gave up easy baskets on the defensive end of the floor while not seeming to be able to make a bucket on the offensive side either. With their highly relied-on point guard, CJ McCollum, recently being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Trail Blazers have been off of their game ever since. Portland has now fallen victim to their last three opponents as they turn their next matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves this upcoming Saturday, March 5, 2022.
