Widely-popular soda company, PepsiCo, is the home to many sought-after carbonated beverages such as Mountain Dew, Pepsi, and Brisk. Most recently, as of this past Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the corporation published the debut of its newest addition to the PepsiCo selection list, Starry – a carbonated, caffeine-free lemon-lime flavored soda.

“The demand for lemon-lime flavored soda has never been greater, with category growth accelerating since 2019, there is a significant opportunity now to give people a choice in an area that has been dominated by one brand for years,” a spokesperson from the business publicly stated during an exclusive press release.

However, PepsiCo is unable to distribute two of the same flavored drinks, resulting in the upsetting executive decision to officially discontinue one of its most likable carbonated beverages, the lemon-lime flavored Sierra Mist. After 23 years of production and distribution, the representatives of the business claimed that they are “optimistic” about the future of Starry, as well as their awareness of their domination of the lemon-lime flavor group.

“With one product dominating the category, consumers deserve another option; one that hits different… Starry is bright, optimistic, and rooted in culture and fun,” chief marketing officer at PepsiCo Beverages North America Greg Lyons stated. “At PepsiCo, we are hyper-focused on consumer-centric innovation, and we know there is a strong demand for lemon-lime flavored soda with the category continuing to accelerate.”
