Two local Long Island nurses were previously arrested this past Saturday, January 29, 2022, for the distribution of fake COVID-19 vaccination cards. Owner of Wild Child Pediatric Healthcare Julie Devuono and nurse Marissa Urraro sold approximately $1.5 million in unapproved vaccination cards to citizens who never truly received any of the required shots, putting the lives of millions of people at unnecessary and easily preventable risk. As reported by the Suffolk County district attorney’s office, based out of Amityville, New York, the two accused criminals were charging $85 for every child and $220 for each adult.
“I hope this sends a message to others who are considering gaming the system that they will get caught and that we will enforce the law to the fullest extent.” Raymond Tierney of the Suffolk County District attorney’s office stated. Officials reportedly came across over $900,000 in cash in the possession of both of the accused and documents that proved profits of $1.5 million commencing from November 2021 up until the day they were exposed. Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison gave his thoughts on this specific situation: “As nurses, these two individuals should understand the importance of legitimate vaccination cards as we all work together to protect public health,” he claimed.
Even though the two nurses are transparently guilty of the crimes they are being accused of committing, their attorney Michael Albert previously made a public statement to news reporters. “We look forward to highlighting the legal impediments and defects of the investigation,” he explained. “It is our hope that an accusation definitely does not overshadow the good work Miss Urraro and Miss Devuono have done for children and adults in the medical field.” Despite working as average nurses and helping the day-to-day person in need, these two women still put millions of people at risk by handing out fake COVID-19 vaccination cards, turning them into broad day criminals.
