It has been almost two full years since the unfortunate passing of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. The former Los Angeles Lakers star was a respected husband, athlete, and father of four girls before being the unfortunate victim of a low percentage helicopter accident; the crash also took the life of his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna Bryant. The operator of the helicopter struck a hillside in the Calabasas area as Kobe and his daughter were on their way to Camarillo, California for Gianna’s AAU basketball tournament. Since this devastating accident, friends, family, and fans everywhere have made their voices heard in never forgetting the lives and impact that both Kobe and Gianna had on the world.
Various murals have been professionally painted on multiple streets, buildings, and even basketball courts throughout the entire world. More specifically, Los Angeles, California is the most populated with Kobe and Gianna remembrance murals, being that is the city where they previously lived and represented for more than two decades. The newest painting to hit the pavement is also in the Los Angeles area, where a plethora of beautifully spray-painted pictures of Kobe is displayed throughout different periods of his basketball career. Bryant’s known phrase, “Be Legendary” is clearly presented over top of the aesthetically pleasing design. In multiple colors, the painting focuses on Bryant in his Lower Merion High School jersey, while accompanying other sketches of the athlete in both his No. 8 and No. 24 Lakers jerseys.
Throughout his 20-year long professional basketball career as a Los Angeles Laker, Kobe Bryant achieved a surplus of accomplishments such as five NBA championships, a 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, an 18-time All-Star, a 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team, a two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), and was the 2008 regular season NBA MVP. While there is nothing we can do about the tragic passing of Gianna at 13 and Kobe at 41-years-old, we can still continue to remember their story and build their true legacy that will last for generations to come.
