Spider-Man: No Way Home has already surpassed the franchises previous box office records on its first night at some of the biggest movie-theater chains in the country. Despite the effects of the pandemic and the new raging COVID variant, theaters saw some of the most foot traffic they have seen since the start of the pandemic.
AMC announced early Friday that approximately 1.1 million moviegoers attended the opening night of Spider-Man: No Way Home, making it the highest-grossing opening night for a December release in AMC’s history. Cinemark referred to the film’s debut as its “best opening night of all time.” And Regal said the film became its second-highest Thursday box office title release in its history, shattering records for IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, and RPX formats.
