NASA has just announced the newest official dates for their well-thought-out Artemis I Moon launch. The information was previously made available to the public this past week confirming the mission to occur on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, along with a duration time of 38 days and traveling a total of approximately 1.3 million miles. According to NASA, the reason behind this specific launch is to move forward in the early stages of a plan to build a homeland for human beings on the Moon.
“Artemis I will be the first in a series of increasingly complex missions to build a long-term human presence at the Moon for decades to come,” NASA’s official website wrote. “The primary goals for Artemis I are to demonstrate Orion’s systems in a spaceflight environment and ensure a safe re-entry, descent, splashdown, and recovery prior to the first flight with crew on Artemis II… All eyes will be on the historic Launch Complex 39B when the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket lifted off for the first time from NASA’s modernized Kennedy Space Center in Florida.”
