Even with the return of their star player, Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks still could not muster up enough strength to defeat the drive and force behind Milwaukee in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. On Saturday, July 2, 2021, the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks went to absolute war in order to keep their stance in this year’s race to the NBA Finals. Being all Bucks from tipoff, it was surprising to watch how easy they made it look as they completely dominated their opponents, who knew that this would be their last game if handed a loss.
In doing so, this impressive group of Bucks players have finally led their city to the NBA Conference Finals since 1974 when they played against the Boston Celtics. Unfortunately for their fans, Giannas Antetokounmpo is still injured with a hyperextension to his left knee and reportedly has yet to be cleared by a doctor in order to participate in the Finals. So far his injury has not negatively affected his team, it seems as if it actually made them more aware and hungrier for their acquired goal.
What was mostly a one-sided game in the favor of Milwaukee there is no denying that every athlete played their part to accomplish the victory. The final score tallied out to 118-107 as a result of Khris Middleton’s performance; he produced 32 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds while rallying 16 straight points in a stressful third quarter. Also, a big reason why the Bucks are here today, Jrue Holiday had an incredible game with his 27 points, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds coming just short of what could have been a historic triple-double. However, probably playing the most important role in this all, Milwaukee’s center Brook Lopez does his damage on the defensive end not allowing any size player to get the ball past him.
The first game of the 2021 NBA Conference Finals will be held on July 6th at The Phoenix Suns Arena in Arizona. The Phoenix Suns will go head to head with what we can only hope to be a healthy Milwaukee Bucks squad. This will be an interesting finals to observe as the two teams battle it out on a stage that neither city has been to in over two decades.
