On July 9th, the Phoenix Suns took on the team that everyone thought would go the distance in this year’s 2021 NBA Conference Finals, the Milwaukee Bucks. Almost an exact repeat of the outcome in Game 1, Phoenix went on to take a strong 2-0 series lead in a 118-108 victory over Giannas Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. This is only Giannas’ second game back after being taken out of action in the Eastern Conference Finals due to an unfortunate hyperextension to his left knee.
Throughout the game, the Greek Freak made it clear that his injury had still been bothering him as he was seen favoring his left knee several times. However, as he usually does, Giannas left it all on the court this past Friday night by supplying his team with a total of 42 points, 4 assists, and 12 rebounds while shooting a difficult 15 of 22 from the floor. As bad as the Milwaukee star wanted to lead his team to their first victory in the Finals, he needed more than just himself to stop the force behind the Suns’ drive to a championship.
Phoenix managed to put up the same amount of points as they did in Game 1, but this time had a more focused Devin Booker who transparently carried his team in this specific game. Booker finished the game with a hard-fought 31 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds over the span of 44 minutes on the court. The Suns all-star secured his team’s victory by putting up a huge 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter to give Phoenix a confident eleven-point lead.
Game 3 of this brutal series will take place at the Fiserv Forum as the two teams head over to Milwaukee in what could very much be the deciding game in this year’s Finals. Continuing to use their momentum from the past two games the Suns are looking to finally bring an end to the Buck’s vicious reign on the NBA by taking them down on the biggest stage of them all, while in their very own city. The next game of the 2021 Conference Finals will be held on Sunday, July 11th, and can be streamed live on NBA TV.
