Mexico was just devastatingly hit with an unexpected 7.6 magnitude earthquake. Sources claim that this is the ‘second powerful earthquake’ to hit the North American country within this past week alone. The Mexico City Government recently confirmed just one fatality during the initial shakes and accompanied by another 200 people during the final: Officials state a woman had reportedly fallen and hit her head as residents of the city were evacuating their homes.
The unfortunate incident took place on Monday, September 19, 2022, making the entire situation a little more extreme – September 19 officially marks Mexico’s anniversary of the tragic and life-changing earthquakes that destroyed the city in 1985, 2017, and now 2022. Approximately 9,500 citizens were killed in the 1985 disaster, leading the city to hold a mandatory earthquake drill every September 19 to honor those who did not make it through.
