Global convenience-store and gas station chain, Circle K, recently inked a deal with Green Thumb Industries, one of the largest US cannabis producers and distributors in the country to sell cannabis at it’s Florida locations. The partnership will start next year with 10 of the company’s 600 locations in the state, Green Thumb stated.
“The new RISE Express model is a huge step forward in making it easier and more efficient for patients to purchase high-quality cannabis as part of their everyday routine when stopping by their local convenience store,” Green Thumb CEO Ben Kolver added.
Currently selling cannabis is still illegal under federal law, however Florida is among several states where the sale for medical use is legal. Over 700,000 Floridians are registered active cardholders in the state’s medical marijuana program, according to the Florida Department of Health.
