Mattel Films, the creators of Barbie, seem to be making some changes to their upcoming film based on the popular card game Uno.
As reported by Alex Barasch of the New Yorker, Marcy Kelly, who is referred to as “Mattel’s unofficial screenwriter and comedy consultant,” initially set the tone for the film in Atlanta’s vibrant hip-hop scene in her first draft. This creative direction suggests a unique and dynamic approach to incorporating the game Uno into a compelling storyline.
Earlier in 2021, there were reports linking Lil Yachty to an Uno movie project that was said to center around Atlanta rap and a heist storyline. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the “Poland” artist was set to produce the film and potentially take on a leading role. Lil Yachty expressed his excitement about the project, stating that turning the game he loves into a movie focused on the Atlanta hip-hop scene was particularly meaningful to him as it resonated with his personal experiences and origins.
