21-year-old rapper Tione Marriot, better known as Lil Tjay, was the recent victim of a gruesome robbery attempt gone wrong. The Bronx, New York, New York artist was said to be at a local chipotle in the Bergen County, New Jersey area when a stranger attempted to steal from him. With Tjay and his crew not allowing that to happen, the criminal eventually set off multiple rounds and unfortunately struck Marriot various times throughout his neck and upper body. However, recent reports claim that Tjay’s surgery went as planned and he is awake and talking to the local authorities. Medical officials also made it known to his audience around the world that after his breathing tube was removed from his mouth, his voice still sounded as it did before the tragic incident occurred.
A suspect was soon arrested just one day following the shooting: Mohamed Konate (27) was arrested by the New York City Police Department and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, before being admitted to a local hospital suffering from various gunshot wounds. As of right now, sources have not updated the public on whether or not Tjay has been able to identify the criminal, however, his audience, family, and friends are grateful that he can recover from this devastating situation.
