Lamelo Ball gained all of the attention he deserved last season with his incredible in-game performances and his overall regular-season averages of 15.7 PPG, 6.1 APG, and 5.1 RPG; not to mention shooting 43.6% from the field and 35.2% behind the arc. With these impressive accomplishments for such a young athlete, the 20-year-old star was awarded the 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. Even though some players and fans disagree with this decision and feel as if Anthony Edwards deserved the title more, there is no contemplating that this was the first major achievement in helping propel Lamelo to becoming one of the best athletes in the NBA.
Every superstar in the NBA comes with their own signature shoes which made it only right for the youngest Ball brother to officially debut his first-ever signature footwear called the “MB1.” Lamelo recently partnered with Puma in order to ensure the full success of the first of many more shoe releases. Nick Depaula posted a picture onto his Twitter feed of Lamelo wearing the MB1’s while watching courtside as his team played their Summer League game. Along with the caption, “Lamelo Ball debuts his first Puma Hoops signature shoe, the MB1, at NBA Summer League,” the shoe consists of a ‘chunky’ look with a flashy aesthetic to match Puma’s other recent collaborative releases.
The first colorway initiated into the shoe is completely orange along with slight hints of black on the outside of the foot and tongue. Also on the tongue of the shoe in black writing is the phrase “1 of 1,” matching the number Melo has requested to be on the back of his jersey. As of right now, no attention has been given to the subject directly from Lamelo or Puma so there is no direct date as to when these new generation shoes will be released for purchase. However, as the NBA season inches closer and closer, with just two months until tip-off we can most likely expect an announcement from the athlete sooner rather than later.
