The Los Angeles Lakers recently hosted a close game against the Houston Rockets this past Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Staples Center, in the heart of Los Angeles, California. Lebron James and the Lakers sent the Rockets back to Houston after a nail-biting 119-117 victory, officially propelling them to gaining a newly confident 5-3 season record. Both teams put on impressive performances throughout the entirety of the game, refusing to give in until the conclusion of regulation.
The majority of the game was a neck-and-neck battle for victory until Los Angeles finally managed to secure the lead late in the fourth quarter. Lebron James was the most noticeable athlete on the floor this past Tuesday by contributing his much needed 30 points, 10 assists, and 4 rebounds, over the course of a hard-fought 36 minutes of action. Lebron James is now officially in his 19th season of the NBA, at 36-years-old, and continues to show zero signs of slowing down.
Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook also put on outstanding individual performances by both obtaining a well-earned 27-point game, along with 9 rebounds and a combined total of 10 assists. Carmelo Anthony was on the floor as well for the Lakers throughout a total of 29 minutes of action, in which the former free-agent contributed a hard-fought 15 points, 1 assist, and 2 rebounds to help his team take home the win.
Despite their loss, Houston put up an unexpected fight throughout the entirety of the match. More specifically, Christian Wood ended the night with a surprising 26-point, 3 assists, and 17 rebound performance. At just 26-years-old, and this being his first official year as a Rocket, it is safe to say that he intended to make a statement by putting the team on his back for this match. However, the Houston Rockets now hold a devastating 1-6 season record as they head into their next game against the Phoenix Suns this upcoming Thursday, November 4th.
