Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is currently fresh off the release of his latest studio album, “DONDA.” Previously released to the public back in August of this year, the Atlanta rapper has already received a surplus of positive feedback in relation to his newest project, while also reeling in an excessive amount of $7 million from the album’s merchandise sales alone. Shortly after the drop of this highly anticipated body of work, Canadian rapper Drake coincidentally released the final version of his long-awaited album, “Certified Lover Boy,” which absolutely blew Kanye’s “DONDA” out of the water. Drake and Kanye have had their fair share of issues with each other in the past, creating the thought that Drake knew what he was doing by releasing his album at the time that he did.
The Toronto native released “Certified Lover Boy” on September 3, 2021, and before the end of its first day being made public, the project took up the top eight spots on the Billboard 200 chart; most of those specific spots were previously occupied by tracks off of Kanye’s “DONDA.” With both artists dropping two of the best albums of the year, Kanye recently took it upon himself to upload a video onto his Instagram account, simply inviting Drake to a collaboration concert in order to raise concern for Larry Hoover.
With JPrince standing beside him, the 44-year-old artist put together a professional and mature video that stated the following: “I’m making this video to address the ongoing back and forth between myself and Drake. Both myself and Drake have taken shots at each other and it’s time to put it to rest. I’m asking Drake, on December 7, to join me on stage as a special guest to share the two biggest albums of the year, live in Los Angeles, with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover. I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together.” Both artists have not been on speaking terms for years now, so it will be quite interesting to see how Drake chooses to respond to Kanye, being if he does at all.
