It has been two long years since the release of a fully produced and performed Kanye West project. Loyal fans have been itching for the highly anticipated album, “DONDA,” for years now as he has been teasing his audience with the official release date. Yeezy has held two separate listening events for the release of this project in which he failed to deliver on his promise after the first one. On August 29, 2021, the morning after the second listening affair, Kanye officially released the final version of “DONDA” onto all streaming platforms for his fans to appreciate.
The entire album was produced by Kanye himself along with the help of multiple professionals beat producers such as Mike Dean, 88-Keys, 30 Roc, BoogzDaBeast, Ojivolta and so many more. It is a 27-song project that includes a total of 23 songs with featured verses from various multi-platinum selling artists like Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Durk, Kid Cudi, Jay-Z, Fivio Foreign, Travis Scott, DaBaby, Playboi Carti, and even posthumous Pop Smoke on top of others. Sources have reported that within less than a week after its official release ”DONDA” is currently on a projected track to sell approximately 350k issues at the end of the first week.
Fans took their social media accounts to express their opinions on the project where one fan would go on to say, “This is not an album. It is a movie.” All of the feedback that the 44-year-old rapper received from the release has been mainly positive as he currently stands at the top in regards to his ‘album release battle’ with Canadian rapper Drake. Drake was initially set to release his album before summer, but ever since changing it has seemingly entered a release battle along with his ‘industry rival’ Yeezy. It is clear Kanye West is presently in the lead with “DONDA” as his competition has yet to make a direct move
