The Kansas City Chiefs hosted an intense battle for the first spot in this year’s Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals. Taking place at the Arrowhead Stadium inside the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, the Bengals officially knocked the Chiefs out of the 2021-2022 NFL Conference Championship. Despite their 27-24 loss, the Chiefs still put up a respectable fight, managing to force Cincinnati into overtime during the final seconds of the fourth quarter; they ended the match after a walk-off 31-yard field goal that was made by their star kicker No. 2 Evan McPherson.
Even with it only being his second year playing in the NFL, second-year rookie Joe Burrow led his team to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this past Sunday, January 30, 2022. The 25-year-old 2020 draft recruit put on an impressive performance with his much-needed facilitation of 2 touchdowns, while throwing a confident total of 250 yards throughout the entirety of the game. Star receivers Samaje Perine and Ja’Marr Chase also had individual stand-out games of their own by each adding a necessary touchdown to assist in their squad’s advancement in the postseason.
Last year’s Super Bowl runner-ups still refused to go down without a fight as they held a strong lead throughout most of the game. Patrick Mahomes II seemed to do as much as he possibly could from his stance on the field, racking up a total of 275 yards thrown, including throwing 3 touchdowns to his trusted receivers: Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman, and Tyreek Hill were all on the receiving end of three separate, necessary touchdown passes. While the season has come to an abrupt ending for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Cincinnati Bengals now prepare for the most important game of their season against the Los Angeles Rams in this year’s annual Super Bowl LVI.
