The 2021 BET Awards were held in Los Angeles, California this past Sunday, June 27th. Artists of all genres came from all across the country to attend the show’s 21st annual ceremony only in hopes of taking home one of their beloved awards. Despite leaving empty-handed, Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow was nominated in multiple categories such as Best Collaboration, Best Male Hip Hop, and Best New Artist. He also left the award show after cordially introducing himself to female rapper Saweetie, which was later taken by the public as ‘shooting his shot.’
The two artists’ interaction was all caught on camera and can easily be perceived in many different forms. Harlow initiated the conversation with the Saweetie as he was walking past and saw her conducting a short interview with The Shade Room. The smooth rapper simply introduced himself with a handshake as he claimed to have never met her face to face. A what seemed to be a nervous Saweetie would test Harlow and ask him why his hand was shaking, in which he quickly responded by placing his other hand over the top of hers while leaning closer into the microphone and confidentially saying, “ain’t nobody shaking.”
Obviously, the video of this interview would go viral throughout social media in which most people are saying that Harlow was supposedly shooting his shot. Later on in the night, he had his own interview with The Shade Room where he was asked about the previous incident with Atlanta rapper, Quavo’s ex-girlfriend. The “What’s Poppin’ artist replied with, “that’s a friendly vibe…I’m a nice person,” insinuating that he was just introducing himself and is seeking nothing other than a friendship with the female California rapper. Neither Harlow nor Saweetie have yet to publicly respond to the video that is supposedly being blown out of proportion.
